  • In person - hand the repeat slip that came with your last prescription in at reception with the required items cleary marked.
  • By post - send it to us with a stamped addressed envelope if you want us to post it back to you.

For safety reasons we cannot accept requests over the telephone.

To comply with current NHS prescribing guidelines we are unable to issues NHS consultant prescriptions without written confirmation from the doctor prescribing the medication.

Changing private prescriptions to NHS prescriptions is at the discretion of the doctor and subject to NHS Barnet prescribing protocols.

We are only able to prescribe two month’s medication at any one time.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, practice Pharmacist or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.

Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

Prescriptions initiated by Consultants, Both private and NHS..

If you have received a prescription from a specialist you do not need to get a GP to rewrite it as a GP prescription (FP10).

If you have a hospital prescription go to the hospital pharmacy who will issue it. Hospital consultants are obliged to only prescribe items that are available from their hospital pharmacy.

If you have a private prescription take this to the pharmacy at the private hospital if applicable or your local high street pharmacy.

Your GP will usually take on prescribing of items initiated by NHS or Private Consultants when they have received full clinical information from the Consultant. Your GP will discuss with you if this is not the case. For example if either the medication falls outside NHS Barnet prescribing policies or for specialist medications that should only be prescribed and monitored by a specialist.
